报告摘要（ABSTRACT）：
It has become more and more demanding for users to quickly comprehend video content, while big video data is growing exponentially. Video summarization, also known as video abstracting, extracts the essential information of a video to produce a compact and informative version. In this talk, he will present recent studies of his team on static video summarization: formulating video summarization as a key point selection task and a sparse reconstruction task. He will also discuss potential directions of video summarization.
报告人简介（BIOGRAPHY）：
Zhiyong Wang received his B. Eng. and M. Eng. Degrees in electronic engineering from South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, and the Ph.D. degree from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. He is currently an Associate Professor, Director of Master of Information Technologies, and Associate Director of the Multimedia Laboratory with the School of Information Technologies, The University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia. His research interests focus on multimedia computing, including multimedia information processing, retrieval and management, Internet-based multimedia data mining, human-centered multimedia computing, and pattern recognition. He has served as a regular reviewer for more than 20 top journals, and TPC member/Session Chair/Track Chair/Publication Chair of more than 30 top conferences. He is a General Chair of DICTA 2017, an Associate Editor of journal Neurocomputing, and the Vice President of Australia Pattern Recognition Society (APRS).
